Our history
Over 100 years, one town, one bank
Trace the story of Granger National Bank — from a farm-town charter to the trusted community bank we are today.
- 1920
Chartered as a bank of the land
Granger National Bank opened its doors as the bank of a growing Central Texas farm town — the first and oldest bank in Granger, built to serve the families working the black soil around it.
- 1924
A home on Davilla Street
Our historic bank building rose on Davilla Street in downtown Granger — a sturdy landmark that still anchors Main Street and stands as proof of the promises we made to this community.
- 1929
Weathered the crash
When the stock market collapsed and the Great Depression swept the country, Granger National Bank held firm. We stayed open, kept faith with our depositors, and helped our neighbors endure the hardest of years.
- 1973
The Heger family steps in
The Heger family took a majority interest in the bank, keeping ownership — and every important decision — firmly in local hands. That commitment to homegrown stewardship still defines us today.
- Today
Full-service, and thoroughly modern
We remain a full-service community bank — agricultural, commercial, and consumer — now paired with secure online and mobile tools. Same handshake, same values, brought into the present. Member FDIC.
What we stand for
Values a century in the making
The principles that guided a farm-town bank in 1920 still guide every decision we make today.
Community first
This town is our home, not a market. Every account we open and loan we make is an investment in the people and place we live alongside.
Local decisions
Your loan is reviewed and approved right here in Granger — by bankers who know you, your family, and the land. No distant call center, no boilerplate.
Honest, conservative stewardship
We steward our depositors' money the way we always have — prudently, transparently, and for the long haul. Strength that carried us through 1929 and beyond.
Relationships over transactions
We measure success in generations, not quarters. When you call, a real person answers — often one who has known your family for decades.
Investing in Granger
Deposits made here stay here — financing farms, storefronts, and homes across our community so that local dollars keep local dreams growing.
Embracing the useful new
We adopt technology that genuinely serves you — secure online and mobile banking, mobile deposit, and modern protection — without ever losing the personal touch.
The Granger way
A century of neighbors helping neighbors
Farms, families, and small businesses have always been the heart of Granger — and of our bank. When the land prospers, so does our town.
Rooted in the community
When Granger grows, we all grow
A community bank is only as strong as the community it serves. For over a century, the dollars entrusted to us have gone right back to work down the road — in the fields, the storefronts, and the homes of the people we see every day.
From the farmers who feed the region to the families opening their first savings account, we invest in Granger because Granger is home. Your money doesn't leave town — it stays here, building the place we all share.
- Financing local farmers through planting, harvest, and every season in between
- Backing the small businesses and storefronts that keep Main Street alive
- Supporting our schools, Little League, and the civic life that makes Granger, Granger
- Keeping deposits working locally — funding homes, land, and livelihoods right here

Local deposits, local impact
Because lending decisions are made here, the savings of one Granger family often become the loan that helps another buy a home, expand a shop, or bring in the harvest.
Decisions made by neighbors
Since the Heger family took a majority interest in 1973, ownership and leadership of Granger National Bank have stayed firmly local. Our board and our local leadership team live in this community, answer to it, and know the people they serve by name.
It means the person deciding on your loan understands your world — and that the bank's future is tied to the town's, just as it has been for more than a century.
Independent & local
